Our New Home

G’Day from LA

Yes we have all arrived safely and we are settling into our new home very well.

We haven’t seen a lot of LA yet but we love the area we live in at Redondo Beach. Everything we need is within walking distance and we have made plenty of friends.

Jake is going to My Gym – which is a gym group for babies. He has made a few mates already.

Annette is loving the shopping and is enjoying unpacking and setting up the house.

Mathew is enjoying his new job and all the travels included.

We went to our first Hockey game recently which was fabulous. Jacob is now a LA Kings fan and purchased a mascot doll that is a lion named Bailey.

Talking of Bailey – he is enjoying himself in QLD with Kim, Bruce and Tegwen and it sounds as though they are enjoying him as well... we don’t think Bailey will be coming back to us when we get home, he is too happy where he is. Tara has passed her police force training and is doing more training with the Bomb Squad.

Australia Day this year has been fun. Last weekend we attended the LA Ashes which we sadly lost to England... but a fun time was had by all. We attended a function on the Friday night before the game and were able to meet Steve Waugh!! How cool is that!! On Australia Day we travelled to San Diego where we stayed at a Naval Base and went to a picnic.  There were about 150 people there and they had all the good things like lamingtons, Anzac biscuits, pavlova and a sausage sizzle. Overall a very nice day. There was a storm that evening that hit San Diego.

Every day is a new experience for us here and we are loving it. Paul Smith has kindly updated our webpage to include photos from our experiences so far – thankyou Paul. You will see in our photos how even going to the supermarket can be a fun experience and of course you can drink starbucks coffee everywhere, every shop we go into seems to have one.

We miss home already and are looking forward to seeing our friends and family who come to visit us in LA. We would love to see you all.

Take care.

Mathew, Annette and Jacob
